Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is presumably the oldest classical art form of Indian tradition and is regarded as a mother of many other Indian dance forms. It is a romantic medley of “bhava’, “raga” and “thala”. The theory behind the musical notes, vocal performance, and the dance movements trace back to the ancient Natya Shastra, and many Sanskrit and Tamil texts such as the Abhinaya Darpana.

Beginner
This course will introduce students to one or more of the above mentioned highly acclaimed ancient Indian classical dance forms. You will learn the basic adavus, involving the basic standing postures, hand gestures, and foot movements and culminate by teaching students on performing these adavus to a shloka. Students after completing this beginner’s course will walk away confident with the basic theoretical and practical knowledge

Intermediate
The intermediate course is for students who are already well versed in the basics . To start with students will review the basics and origins of this art and then move on to more advanced practices and techniques, like abhinaya. The experts in the team of Asha Sharath will meet each student at their current level and tailor the course to their needs and goals as a dancer.

Passion
This is a course designed for the dreamers, who dreams of dancing for enjoyment, but think it is too late to learn. This wonderfully fun course is perfect for someone who is passionate about this art form but never got the opportunity to pursue their passion. Remember nothing is late in life.

Professional This highly structured course is for students who aim to become professional in the field of dance and want to take up this as a career. The Asha Sharath Team will guide and polish your talents so you are well on your way to become a professional performer/teacher.

Mohiniyattam

Mohiniyattam literally translates to mean, dance of the celestial enchantress. It is especially popular in Kerala and southern part of India. The dance style engraved is Lasya, which is delicate, yet enticingly sensual and feminine. The song is typically in Malayalam-Sanskrit hybrid called Manipravalam. Traditionally, it is performed solo by women after extensive training.

Kuchipudi

Kuchipudi is one of the major Indian classical dance forms, which is believed to have originated in the village of Kuchipudi, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a dance-drama performance rooted and inspired by the annals from life history of Lord Krishna. Like all major classical dances of India this also developed as a religious art linked to traveling bards, temples, and spiritual beliefs and matured to the present day format in 17the century

Carnatic Music

Carnatic music, or Karnāṭaka saṅgītam is a system of music popularised in the southern states of India as well as Sri Lanka. It is one of two main subgenres of Indian classical music that evolved from ancient Hindu traditions, the other being Hindustani music .The main emphasis in Carnatic music is on vocal music; most compositions are written to be sung, and even when played on instruments, they are meant to be performed in gāyaki or singing style.
